Primošten is situated on a small island which is connected to mainland with a dike, located some 20 km south of Šibenik, this pretty little town has been attracting many enthusiasts and tourists with its interesting architecture and crystal clear sea for over 60 years.

The beach

The entire peninsula with the old town is surrounded by beautiful tiny coves and big rocks, ideal for those who like wild, uncultivated beaches. Everyone can have a small portion of coast for themself and spend an entire day there. The entire coast of Primošten is fact one big beach and whichever part you choose for swimming, you won’t be mistaken.

Raduča peninsula with its hotels is the most beautiful part for tourists. There are pebble beaches with really clear sea with a wonderful deep blue color. Deck chairs are rented for the affordable prices, there are free showers on several places along the beach.

Sightseeing and attractions

Tourism is the most important economy branch for inhabitants of Primošten and Primošten area, although some still work the land and raise small cattle. Primošten olives and top-quality olive oil is well known. In Primošten surroundings, in vineyards planted almost in bare stone, an autochthonous wine grape variety is grown. A famous superior quality wine Babić is produced from this grape. These vineyards have an official status of world monument of human work and there is a picture of them in the lobby of the United Nations building in New York.

All narrow alleys between the stone houses lead to the Parish Church of St George (Sv. Juraj) on the top of the hill. It was built in the 15th ct. and since then it was renovated and upgraded several times. There is an old Primošten graveyard with a wonderful view next to the church.

At the entrance to the peninsula there is a Church of St Rocco (Roko), a valuable cultural monument. There is a statue of priest don Ivan Šarić in front of the church. Walking around the peninsula along the beautiful promenade by the sea is really a special experience and you will enjoy a wonderful view and Mediterranean plants.

Besides many interesting sites and wonderful old houses in the center of Primošten, a real treat is hidden in the Primošten hinterland. In many villages and hamlets which are connected with acceptable roads there are numerous interesting sites and historical remains you must see and visit.
